wildflower walk and driving in Shiga

This day, we walk up 4:30 am to go to Ibuki-mountain. It is in between Shiga and Gifu, about 3 hours from my house, 120 miles from my house.

We have to pay fees/toll when we use interstates (more when you stay longer), so there are lots of rest areas on interstate. We stopped after 2 hours

We had coffee at Starbucks. I just wanted to check it out. I haven't posted yet, but there are SO MANY coffee shop in Japan. Look, our small is very small!

Ibukiyama Driveway. Toll here is $30 per car. Tolls everywhere...

We are driving up to the mountain in front. The drive was worse than "dragon" in smoky mountain...

1000m up. we are going to the top, which is above my head in the picture

This mountain is famous for the wild flowers! I already found one in the parking lot! How cute!

Sundrop?

The middle is rice field. typical Japanese scene.

We drove up to almost to the top. We just had to walk less than a mile to the top.
This Japanese camping car is so small! I can drive this for sure! (notice they take shoes off in the car too :) Japanese style)

These are what I found. So beautiful!!!

When I got to top, fog was all over that I couldn't even see 10 yards away... so no pictures from the top looking down... :(

It was very interesting scene on top of the mountain. There were people who wear normal clothing (some girls had low heels on) who obviously only walked from the parking lot. Also, there were person who walked from the bottom with hiking shoes and walking sticks. It reminded me Laurel fall :D
most mountains have stores (even on top of mount Fuji) that you can buy beer, water, food.
My mom had an ice cream, my dad had a can of beer. I bought a wildflower book.

We needed Morgan on this poor walk way. This is on the way back to parking lot.
Even I had hard time going down.

When we got back, the parking lot was full! cars all over!

tour bus stop here. typical group picture time :)

Smoky is nothing compare to this. (this is rest room)

Next time, I will go up from the bottom. Who wants to join me?
this is one of the trail

Another trail

We passed 130 cars from the parking lot on the way down. I don't think all would fit in the parking lot...
Drove to another tourist point, but we were hungry. My parents knew great place to eat lunch. My mom made us typical Japanese lunch box

You can't have my lunch! She tried tho.

Look at the view. Trout which live in "god's water" (spring)

In this spring water, can you see white flowers?

This is water weed. "plum flower water weed"

There are town the water goes through. lots of people were visiting to see the water weed
over protective owner?!?!

This is another source of spring
saw another cute flower

Spring water is very cold, so people who live in the area uses this water as refrigirator.
This is like soda.
Very good...

Now, we just have to go home.
We drove around Biwako (lake Biwa) which is the biggest lake in Japan

Lake Biwa has water lily garden. I didn't go inside, because outside is just enough.
I have never seen so many lotus before!

In the rest area.
This Japanese dog was so cute, I just had to take the picture

little fishing area for kids :)

Coffee break. I love this coffee jelly thing.

We were in the traffic jam for 3 hours. Took about 5 hours to go home... very typical
We just stopped at grocery store and took Sushi to go. Only about $7

and get this many!!!

Had an awesome day!!!
